Level II septic is a term commonly used to describe a specific type of septic system. The Level II septic system was developed in Montana specifically to
meet Montana Department of Environmental Quality Level II treatment standards for on-site septic systems. Level II requires a septic system to achieve 60%
or greater reduction in TOTAL nitrogen concentration.
During a Level II septic inspection, a licensed inspector will typically pump the tank to remove all solids and liquids,
inspect the tank and its components, and evaluate the condition of the drainfield or leach field. The inspector may also
use a camera to inspect the system's pipes and perform other tests to assess the system's overall functionality.
The purpose of a Level II septic inspection is to identify any issues that may be present in the septic system, such as
leaks, clogs, or other problems that could lead to system failure. This information can then be used to determine whether
repairs or replacement of the system are necessary to ensure proper functioning and compliance with local regulations.
